Methodology

x-octo is for people deciding what AI business to bet on next. Each day it translates a product into: is it a business, who pays, where to enter. Not investment advice.

You do not have to choose who you are first

One set of facts can serve several purposes: start with the entry window and what to borrow when looking for a wedge; with the business model and what to validate when testing quality; and with the old behavior replaced when assessing impact. Read for the question in front of you, not a label.

How we translate a tool into a business

Every case begins with a 60-second read: the demand call, business model, entry window, and evidence gap. Only then come the old behavior, data, counterevidence, and full reasoning. It lets readers decide whether to spend attention before asking why we made the call.

Updated every day

Every day we collect newly launched and already-scaled AI apps from public information worldwide. Platforms, rankings, and independent writers are all in the net. Only what can be told as a business is published. We do not list sources; that is an implementation detail.

What we record

Each case is labeled by business form: not a business yet, started charging, already at scale, or the category is set. Products with public usage data show scale and month-over-month change. Growth points to what to verify next; it does not prove a cause.

What becomes public

A product is published only when we can say what it does and give one directional judgment. Rejected or incomplete entries stay off public pages and the sitemap.

How to use this work

Product descriptions draw on public material; full analyses and daily calls are editorial judgments. When citing a conclusion, link to its product or daily-call page and keep the displayed update date.

Business judgment is the core deliverable

Every case answers: what it is, whether it is a business, who pays, where to enter, and what the window is. Playbook shows each case as what it is, what it does, and what is worth taking as reference. Honest 'not a business yet' or 'not disclosed' beats a polished guess.
